Lighting of workspaces with California, the UGR<19 downlight
In an office like the one of PAGETODAY.COM, in Canary Islands, it is necessary that workers could see without efforts in a comfortable environment. Using CALIFORNIA downlight.
The lighting of workplaces does not only respond to an aesthetic conception, but is also a key element that directly influences activities, performances and workers’ health. Suitable lighting conditions will reduce accidents, improve visual comfort and conditions, stimulate good performances, and optimise the processes thanks to their positive influence on motivation and mood.
On the other hand, inappropriate lighting conditions can cause risks for the health of workers, producing visual discomfort, fatigue, migraine, vertigos, anxiety, glare and more adverse effects, such as lack of concentration and productivity, loss of interest, and discouragement.
In an office like the one of PAGETODAY.COM, in Canary Islands, it is necessary that workers could see without efforts in a comfortable environment. Using CALIFORNIA downlight, we obtain the required comfort thanks to a uniform lighting that does not create difference in light intensity and with a <19 UGR degree that does not glare.
Its UGR degree makes California the perfect downlight to install in offices and workplaces. Moreover, it is possible to mix the three wattages and sizes available (10W, 20W and 28W), according to the lighting necessities of every zone.
This downlight is flicker-free, with white finish and it is available in three light colours: Cool White, Neutral White and Warm White. It is also possible to include dimming options. Therefore, it is a complete range that makes simple to combine its different options in line with the requirements of the project.
As shown in the photo, decorative light spots have been added, to intensify the illumination of the company logo on the wall with two adjustable track lights.
The European standard EN 12464-1 gives indications about the lighting of indoor workplaces and establishes some parameters: work zone 500 lux, contiguous zone 300 lux, background 300 lux, hallways and passage areas 100 lux.
To a proper lighting, we can add some suggestions that will help to obtain the best quality. For example, to take advantage of natural light whenever possible and to use curtains and shutters to avoid glare.
To improve concentration and productivity, it is recommended to choose neutral white, as warmer shades could favour relaxation and produce undesirable effects.
Moreover, if light is still insufficient, it is possible to reinforce general lighting with specific light spots, focused on a specific zone or a smaller location. In this case we can use suspended or table lamps, to be placed directly upon the interested surface.
